i gathered myself up
Off of the floor
Like freshly raked leaves
One pile at a time
I wiped my tears
And rung out the towel
My puffy eyes
Pink as a pig
I cried my worries
Into a box
And sent them FedEx
To God
Without a return address
In quite a hurry, as if
I had no time to spare
My soul
It felt stripped bare
Like an autumn tree…
